Common electronic components
- Resistor: limits the flow of current. Its value is shown by colour bands and measured in ohms (Ω).
- Capacitor: stores electric charge for a short time.
- Diode: allows current to flow in one direction only.
- Light Emitting Diode (LED): a diode that gives off light; uses very little power.
- Transistor: works as a switch or amplifier.
- Light Dependent Resistor (LDR): resistance falls in bright light (used in automatic security lights).
- Thermistor: resistance changes with temperature.
