Lesson 2 of 4 · Form 4 Physics
The electromagnetic spectrum
15 min
Order (increasing frequency, decreasing wavelength)
Radio → Microwaves → Infrared → Visible light → Ultraviolet → X-rays → Gamma rays
Common properties
- Transverse waves.
- Travel at 3 × 10⁸ m/s in a vacuum.
- Do not need a medium.
- Can be reflected, refracted, diffracted; obey v = fλ.
- Not deflected by electric or magnetic fields.
