When you analyse a poem, consider:
Subject matter and theme
What the poem is about and the message the poet wants to pass.
Persona and tone
- Persona: the voice speaking in the poem.
- Tone: the attitude of the persona, e.g. bitter, nostalgic, joyful, sarcastic, sorrowful.
- Mood: the feeling the poem creates in the reader.
