15 min

- Inland: Lake Victoria (largest producer: Nile perch, tilapia, omena/dagaa), Lake Turkana, Lake Naivasha, Lake Baringo, fish farms.
- Marine: the Indian Ocean (tuna, sardines, lobsters, prawns).
Fishing methods
- Purse seining: a net surrounds a shoal, then the bottom is drawn closed (pelagic fish such as sardines).
- Trawling: a bag-shaped net dragged along the sea bed (demersal fish such as cod).
- Drifting: gill nets hang in the water and fish are trapped by their gills.
- Line fishing (long lines with baited hooks), basket traps and harpoons.
